Boranup Forest Retreat Services
Lisa has had a keen interest in the Health and Wellness field for the last 30 years. Becoming certified as a Yoga Teacher in 2006, Stretch Therapy Teacher in 2017 and most recently gaining Certification in the Science of HeartMath (focuses on heart wave variability and coherence and use of biofeedback to teach you how to bring your brain, mind, body and emotions into balanced alignment).
Lisa also has a keen interest in Sound Therapy using resonant frequencies/vibrations of the Gongs and Tibetan bowls to bring about a state of deep relaxation within the body leaving you feeling deeply rejuvenated and in a heightened state of peace.
A passionate horse lover, Lisa is also hoping to one day integrate Equine Therapy as a modality being offered to help people with Mental Health issues.
We offer counselling to individuals, couples or families with a focus on walking and talking in an outdoor therapy model. Isolating yourself at the retreat to focus on issues and immersing yourself in the process is the concept we promote. We utilise a Narrative Therapy approach to addressing trauma treatment.
Muscle tension is a major impact of stress and massage therapy is one of the best ways of treating stress through soothing muscle tension. Boranup Forest Retreat has several massage therapists, men and women that can attend the retreat for providing massage therapy. Prices range from 50$-85$ per hour for different therapists.
Hiking and Bushwalking
Boranup Forest Retreat is surrounded by forest and national park with great walking trails throughout the surrounding forests. There is nothing more beneficial than the oxygen rich forest environment for walking or longer hikes in addition to the beach and coastal tracks nearby with beautiful scenic views. Guided walks are provided as part of anyone attending Mental Health Optimisation retreats and the opportunity for guided walks is available to anyone attending the retreat.
Heart Math Bio Feedback
Heartmath is a new technique being used to effectively treat Anxiety, Depression and Trauma. The heart’s input to the brain during stressful or negative emotions has a profound effect on the brain’s emotional processes.
Using HeartMath techniques and Hear Rate Variability biofeedback, learn to generate increased heart rhythm coherence which not only benefits the entire body, but also profoundly affects how we perceive, think, feel, and perform.
HeartMath technology trains people to reduce stress, gain greater self-control and increase resilience. Using either an ear sensor or finger sensor connected to a USB module running on Heartmath emWave software, it monitors and displays an individual’s heart- rhythm patterns and shows coherence levels on a computer screen.
Coherence is defined as an optimal state in which the heart, mind and emotions operate in sync and are balanced, which has been proven to have numerous mental, emotional and physical benefits. http://www.heartmath.org/
